Under the utterly appropriate pseudonym of ‘Rotterly Ghoulstone’,
British children’s author David Lee Stone presents a new series for reluctant
readers. When Ed Bagley unexpectedly rises from the dead on his thirteenth
birthday, he discovers not only is his possessed left arm separated from his
corpse and actively trying to kill him (again!), but his hometown is almost
overrun with an unseen population of supernatural creatures. With the help of
his newly appointed “Dead Buddy”, a werewolf named Max, Ed traipses off on a
silly, gore-filled test of courage as he seeks to overthrow and re-attach his
lost limb and discover the meaning of his un-life. The humour and brisk pace
lets even the most hesitant reader enjoy a piece of the zombie literary
invasion.
